AT THE 40th anniversary commemorations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore on September 6, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced that Changi Airport will begin construction of Terminal 5 in the first half of 2025. The estimated $10bn facility will be capable of accommodating 50 million passengers annually when it becomes operational around a decade from now. It will be located on the 1,080 hectare Changi East development, on reclaimed land to the southeast of the hub and linked to existing airport infrastructure to create a fully integrated facility, easing movement between terminals.
