THE pair of porcelain candlesticks modelled as foxes in hunting attire was among the rarest and most desirable of the handpainted models produced by Royal Bayreuth in the late 1920s and early ’30s.
One example was the target of collectors at Hannam’s (20% buyer’s premium) at Selborne on January 25.
The 6½in (16.5cm) tall figures, left, were estimated at £600-800 but frequently sell for more to admirers of the Bavarian factory’s wares. Bidding climbed to £2200.
