A cache of early LS Lowry (1887-1976) drawings discovered in a deceased estate in Cheshire is estimated to sell for £150,000 at Bentleys Fine Art Auctioneers in Cranbrook, Kent.
Offered on April 7, the 19 original drawings have been authenticated by three Lowry specialists and date largely from 1911-19. They range from £2000-20,000 and depict academic subjects, such as refined classical nudes and studies of bust heads – a striking contrast to his later ‘matchstick men’.
