On April 28 the Bordeaux auction house Briscadieu is holding a sale devoted to Peintures Bordelaises – featuring scenes by a mix of local artists and those from further afield who visited this picturesque region. An idea started in 2015, this is the auctioneers’ third such themed sale.
Pictured here is a work by one of the major names featured in the sale: Albert Marquet (1875-1947). His 15 x 22in (38 x 55cm) oil on canvas, Pins au Pyla, with a stamp and signature lower right, has a provenance to the artist’s wife Marcelle, the London dealer Connaught Brown and a private collection. It is estimated at €20,000-30,000.
