Lochgilphead Scouts receive top award

Scouts MJ O’Meara, Daniel Doherty, Alasdair Toner and Lucas Gritten received their Gold Chief Scout Award following four years of hard work.

FOUR Scots from 19th Argyll branch have received their Gold Chief Scout Award following four years of hard work. Scouts MJ O’Meara, Daniel Doherty, Alasdair Toner and Lucas Gritten decided to have the award presented by chairman John McCartan at the top of Dunadd on Tuesday March 27.

They were joined by their fellow Scouts, as well as their leaders, parents and siblings. The boys have worked towards the award, learning a range of skills, taking on mentoring roles and regularly attending troop camps. They also recently completed the 20-mile Snowdrop Challenge Hike in challenging weather conditions. Scout Leader David Smart said: ‘We are immensely proud of these Scouts – it has been fantastic to see how they have grown and developed in the past four years.
