New pipe bags, chanters and drums have been bought in preparation for the season.
AFTER a strong season in 2017 for Mid Argyll Pipe Band, it is safe to say there are no plans to stand still. The opening major of 2018, the British Pipe Band Championships in Paisley, will take place in just three weeks. Ahead of it, the pipers have been kitted out with new sheepskin bags and chanters for their instruments. A new set of drums has been bought, giving a better sound.
Pipe Major Craig Lang explained: ‘The band progressed well in Grade 4B last year, gaining some respectable results and some very positive comments from judges, members of the public and the piping community. ‘This was particularly encouraging as we had just added no fewer than five new pipers, all from Rod Buchanan’s class in Kilmartin. ‘After playing at Cowal Games at the end of the season, we took the decision to invest heavily in the sound of the band and began fitting sheepskin bags late last year.
