THE FARMING and crofting community across Argyll and the islands was saddened to hear of the passing earlier this month of Mull crofter Ronnie Campbell. Mr Campbell was recognised at the NFU Scotland regional annual general meeting in January when he was awarded this year’s Argyll and the Islands stalwart award in recognition for his contribution to the union, and farming and crofting community for many decades.
NFU Scotland regional manager Lucy Sumsion said: ‘Ronnie was a kind and thoughtful man as well as a great contributor to the union, crofting on Mull and the many other interests he had. He was a very worthy winner of this year’s stalwart award. ‘We will miss him and our thoughts are with Sheila and family.’
