An Arran war veteran has reached the ripe old age of 100.
Gilbert Norris from Lamlash celebrated his centenary on Sunday when he received a card from the Queen, delivered by the deputy lord lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, Dr Alastair Grassie.
Last month the Banner told how Gilbert, who has lived on Arran for nearly 40 years, had received the highest decoration in France, the Legion d’hHonneur, for his involvement of the liberation of the country during the Second World War.
