Oban artist Carol Olsen visited the members of Arran Visual Arts earlier this month to hold a class on silk painting which was held over two days at the Ranger Centre at Brodick castle. Here Susie Thompson gives us areport of her experience at the workshop.
Carol had already told us all that no experience was necessary and all we needed was enthusiasm. And enthusiasm was to be found in abundance over the two days of the workshop!
The weather was so good for our weekend. The gorgeous colours we were playing with really came to life in the sunshine. Carol’s enthusiasm, generosity of time and knowledge helped the seven of us to understand the basics of painting on silk. There were so many questions to ask and so much to learn. Carol patiently talked us through it all. Then we took up our silk, paints and brushes and started.
