Arran Elderly Forum focuses on Keeping Informed

At our May meeting there were a number of reports of interest to the forum.

Maureen Docherty had attended the Age Scotland annual conference in Perth. This she had enjoyed and found it very useful in alerting us to issues of isolation and loneliness and how it erodes older peoples’ contentment and happiness.

The theme of Age Scotland is ‘Quality of Life in Later Life’ This tied in with Jim Nichols’ feedback report on the development of ‘The Integration of Health and Social Services’ and the new locality groups of which Arran is an entity on its own. This is no longer a paper exercise but is launched and taking shape. There is now an Arran Locality Group which meets three or four times a year with invited members from a range of public sectors and members from the community at large who are the recipient of the services.
