Allyson Felix: US champion
GOING on paper and prior form, last year’s world gold and silver medallists Allyson Felix (USA) and Shaunae Miller (BAH) start as favourites – and Miller currently holds the world-leading time of 49.55.
London 2012 200m champion Felix is determined to win her first Olympic title over 400m and impressively won the US title last month despite claiming she was short of races. Team-mate Phyllis Francis also went sub-50 in the Trials, while Jamaican Stephenie-Ann McPherson is always a contender.
