The everyday challenges we face as gay people thankfully seem to lessen as each year rolls by − in large cosmopolitan cities at least. However, when I travel it sometimes feels like I’m travelling back in time.
Will the hotel be welcoming? Will there be that awkward check-in moment when the staff ask if we’re sure we want a double bed? And what about other travellers − will we feel free to be ourselves or will we have to put our guards up around them?
