RIP ORLANDO BLOOM, LONG LIVE BRENTON THWAITES! There’s been a posh-crumpet-shaped hole in the long-running Pirates of the Caribbean franchise ever since Bloom departed after the third film. And while Bloom will be returning as Will Turner in the latest instalment (despite being, you know, dead), we’ve only got eyes for Aussie heartthrob Brenton Thwaites, who joins the sea-faring fantasy series just in time for the latest adventure, Salazar’s Revenge.
Thwaites will be injecting some much-needed fresh blood into the fifth — and reportedly final — Pirates film, playing a well-heeled young soldier called Henry. He meets up with Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp, reprising one of his most iconic roles), who is being pursued by Armando Salazar (Javier Bardem), a terrifying nemesis from Jack’s past who’s determined to wipe out every pirate on the high seas. Henry’s on his own quest to find his dad, and you won’t need to have watched too many episodes of Jeremy Kyle to figure out who that is…
