Every year at this time we’ll be trying to avoid the “snifflers” on the train. While that may be impossible, here are some things to help keep you healthy. In the gym, keep a little bottle of hand sanitizer handy, wipe down equipment before and after using it, wash your hands, keep hydrated, and get plenty of rest. Exercise in itself also boosts the immune system, releasing chemicals called endorphins (the same as the ones released during a good romp) that interact with receptors in the brain which make us feel happy, reduce our perception of pain, reduce stress levels, boost self-esteem, improve sleep and ward off feelings of anxiety and depression.
