Larrikinism by Australian Army recruits during World War I was an element of the ANZAC story and was a key factor in a troop train accident at Liverpool in December 1915. Charles Snell was on the train involved and recorded details of the smash in his papers and with his camera. Sadly, Charles was killed in action on the Western Front in July 1916, but his great-niece, Margaret Warburton, brings his story to light in this issue of ARH.
Part 2 of David Behan’s documentation of the extant remains of the collieries and railway sidings of the Ipswich area in Queensland is the feature article; while a short piece documents the industries that used a siding in the heart of Perth over the years.
