Named after the impressionist artist who lived in the area in the 1870s, Café Van Gogh is a vegan restaurant located in South London. Not only do they have an extensive menu of mouth-watering plant-based meals from hearty Sunday roasts to indulgent desserts – all of which are made from ethically-sourced ingredients, too – but they’re also a not-for-profit social enterprise who want to make a difference in their local community. The café works in conjunction with numerous charities to run a programme of on-the-job training for people with learning disabilities or mental health issues, to provide them with the support and confidence to seek paid employment. Owner, Steven Clarke, tells us more.
Café Van Gogh is a vegan café based between Brixton and Kennington. We aim to be as ethical as we can be in how we conduct our business. We see it as our job to challenge people’s misconception of plant-based food by serving nutritious, delightful dishes that people talk to their friends about, and come back for more. We are particularly famous for our Saturday brunches (our bloody Mary is a south London institution) and our Sunday roasts.
