There’s no point crying over spilt milk, or is there?
I popped into Holland & Barrett recently, and did my usual, scanning the shelves for red sticker foods; the food reduced when nearing its best before or use by date. Jackpot! I spotted a row of reduced price oat milk, all with red stickers and with a best before date (BBD) which had expired the day before.
I’ll freeze a few, I thought to myself as I took four cartons to the till. It did cross my mind that they may not sell them to me given that the BBD was the day before. However, I was feeling pretty confident I could bag them – reusable bag of course, saving the environment and all that. A BBD refers to food quality, not safety, so is not a legal requirement, and I’ve bought food past its BBD at other Holland & Barrett stores.
