As an activist, vegan, environmentalist and slow fashion advocate, Venetia Falconer champions everything we stand for. Yet, one of the most likeable things about her is how relatable and down-to-Earth she is. Like many of us, she admits she’s not always been the perfect consumer, nor has she always followed a plant-based diet. However, she knows it’s not too late to make a difference. Now, she dedicates her time to teaching others how to do the same, championing how easy ethical living can be.
I started my career in TV as a producer and then started presenting. I did that for a couple of years and it was the best experience ever. While I was doing this, I became vegan and started getting really interested in living more consciously. I felt a little bit frustrated that I couldn’t talk about those sorts of things in the current music-based TV I was appearing on. That soon changed when I started working for a digital content site called Tastemade (tastemade.co.uk). I was able to host recipe demo videos where I could make vegan food and also I was doing low-waste beauty hacks or homemade beauty recipes – that was amazing. I was getting to talk about what I was passionate about and my videos were being seen all around the world rather than just in the UK. I started a YouTube channel to do more of the same, focusing on veganism and I also launched my podcast.
