Nestled on Mount Pleasant Ecological Park near Porthtowan, is Cabana Kitchen and Cafe. Its very location has nature running through it, with 42 acres of green space and a community garden where fresh produce is grown. Sustainable values are at the heart of Cabana, focusing on ethical trade, local suppliers and plant-based cooking. Customers all agree it’s a place with a friendly, warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the cafe also caters for weddings, events and concerts, too. Owner, Sophie Holmes, tells us more.
Cabana is set in the grounds of Mount Pleasant Eco Park. I used to work for the park and part of my job was to open the space as a cafe for events and weddings. The feedback from customers and people working in other areas of the site was for the cafe to be open as a regular feature. Eco Park is already a vegetarian site, and in the kitchen we focus a lot on vegan ethos – we love vegetables here. We have an allotment with a wonderful group of volunteers.
