POUND FOR POUND: Canelo is regarded among the best in the sport I AM so sorry to hear about the death of International Boxing Hall of Fame judge Harold Lederman. I first met Harold in Manchester in 1990. We began a conversation and Harold told me: “I don’t meet many people as knowledgeable as you. Let’s correspond.” We wrote to each other frequently, exchanging newspaper clippings. Harold worked for HBO, and whenever they came to town, Harold took me to the fights. We’d spend weeks hanging out together, discussing boxing. He became my role model and mentor. Harold loved the sport of boxing and people in general. He taught me the art of gratitude – there was never a homeless person on the street Harold could walk by without chatting to and giving them money. Harold was a great man who I’ll never forget.
