More than 33,000 people sign up for their Right to Build in England

13

Research by the National Custom and Self Build Association (NaCSBA) shows there has been an 80% increase in individuals and associations who have signed up to Right to Build registers in the last year (from 18,000 to 33,000) – with many having enrolled through the Right to Build Portal website (www.righttobuildportal.org). NaCSBA is planning a national consumer campaign in 2018 to increase awareness of the registers and help people understand their rights under the self-build and custom housebuilding legislation. “Over 15,000 more people joining registers is extremely positive,” says Michael Holmes, chair of NaCSBA. “The promotion undertaken by councils varies hugely. Those that are proactive are reaping the many benefits custom and self build housing can bring to their area.” Find out more on page 130.
