AS SCOTTISH Women’s Institutes (SWI) across the country celebrate the organisation’s centenary, Kintyre’s oldest member cut a specially-decorated cake.
May Currie, of Largieside, joined the ‘Rural’ nearly 80 years ago at the age of 14, and was given the cake-cutting honour at the Kintyre group of the SWI’s celebration tea to commemorate the 100th anniversary.
After the cake was cut, group chairwoman Patricia Fair welcomed members and gave a short history of the SWI.
