I am very glad to be addressing you all for the first time in my
new role as acting editor of Classic Car Buyer. As regular readers will know, I’ve been involved with CCB since it’s very rst issue and have seen the title grow from strength-to-strength. I am very keen
to see this trend continue! One of the great things about the car mad team here at Kelsey Publishing is that our individual interests cover just about every era and type of vintage, classic and soon-to-be classic cars. I myself own a late ‘Eighties Toyota MR2, which has had much spent on it in order to keep it rust free, but I have also spent an awful lot of time with Classic Car Buyer’s 1973 Triumph Toledo – two classics that together couldn’t be more different! My next
purchase is anyone’s guess – I’ve long admired Volkswagen Sciroccos,
Ford MkI Fiestas and pretty much every ‘Seventies Vauxhall going, but
an MGB GT is the latest classic to nd its way on to my radar.
As John-Joe explained last week, he has moved out of the CCB hot seat in order to edit Kelsey’s newest title Retro Cars, but you’ll still be seeing plenty of him in these pages as he remains part of the team as CCB’s new editor at large. Indeed, you can read all about his tales of woe following his Range Rover’s MoT on page 71. Formerly CCB staff writer, Jack Grover is now a features
writer, while Peter Simpson and Iain Wakefield remain in their respective
editor in chief and deputy editor roles. In this week’s issue, Ian Cushway has tips for buying and looking after the first ever classic car I fell in love with – the MGA – plus Ian looks at the full range of Lotus Esprits produced and how they evolved over nearly 30 years of production.
Regular contributor Paul Guinness also compares an early sidevalveengined Morris Minor with a late 1000 Traveller to highlight just how much this British mainstay changed over the years.
