DIVA WAS MY SOLACE
My name is Joy-Marie Joseph. I’m 37, an artist and a black British lesbian from London. I first came across DIVA whilst working in WHSmith. I was 20 years old, and in the closet. I was living a miserable, suicidal, depressed life, married to a man to please my family and society. DIVA became a lifeline for me and helped me through some seriously dark times, the articles deliciously varied, informative and many times inspiring. I found solace in DIVA, discovered a world of women just like myself, with similar struggles. DIVA introduced me to my favorite movie (Stud Life). And DIVA gave me my favourite album to go to sleep to (Tales Of Us by Goldfrapp). And best of all, DIVA gave me the courage to leave my marriage and live my true self. I met my current girlfriend on DIVA Date! And we just celebrated our first Valentine’s. Love u DIVA!
