ADWELL PARK

Hidden in the sleepy Lincolnshire Wolds lies perhaps the UK’s best known race track - Cadwell Park. Tight, twisty and perhaps the only circuit where you can clock air time, here’s our guide…

YOUR GUIDE TO MASTERING THE BEST OF BRITISH CIRCUITS

If you’ve got the balls land pace], Coppice is a good place for outside passes.

1 Start-finish straight

It’s by no means the longest start-finish straight going but it’s possible to be cracking on at a fair rate of knots come the end of it. If you’re on a flying lap you’ll typically be crossing from the left hand side of the circuit over to the right, so be aware of slower (or faster) bikes doing the same thing. Aside from that, it’s a case of keeping your elbows tucked in, your head low behind the screen, and the throttle wide open.

2 Coppice

You can leave your braking really late for this fast, positively cambered uphill left hander and carry much more speed into it than you think (on smaller bikes you won’t even roll off). If you’re riding a six hundred or above, you’d typically accelerate past the medial centre (on the right) and start braking/letting off, and going down a gear near to the Club Hairpin, using the pedestrian bridge as a cue to start pitching into Coppice.

The first corner has a pretty straightforward apex to it that you should be tight over and brushing your knee on the inside rumble strip. Enter too tight or too early and you’ll be pushed out wide as you start exiting the bend and begin your climb up the steep hill to Charlies One, which will force you to let off or compromise your entry into the second bend.
