As if there weren’t already enough reasons to get those trainers on, here’s another great one. Regular aerobic exercise can help you stay serene if you struggle to keep your emotions on an even keel, suggests new research in Cognition And Emotion. The subjects filled in questionnaires to measure their mood regulation, then either jogged or stretched for 30 minutes before being shown clips of sad and happy films. The result? The runners were better able to regulate their emotions, overcoming sadness or compensating for it more effectively. So stay calmer for longer with a preemptive run.
