EVERY time I set foot on the Isle of Lewis I expect to see Donald Trump and his human security cordon strolling around Stornoway. The famous American entrepreneur would be there to create another of his controversial developments, or to buy an iconic establishment or two – and why not, he’d say – the man’s mother came from Lewis. But already he’d be too late to stop the wind turbines in that particular location, since a good number already exist. Not the hundreds, however, that were rejected by the community, when this so-called altruistic development was deemed to be a profit-making intrusion from the mainland at the expense of the environment.
