WELCOME TO ITALIA!

We’re full of the joys of spring this month – there’s always plenty to celebrate at this time of year. Not only is Easter and a lazy extended bank holiday in prospect, but the days are longer and (hopefully) warmer, so the invitation is right there to get out and about.

We have a splendid line-up of features to inspire your travels this month: our cover star Lake Maggiore has a wealth of stunning locations to explore, both around its shores and on the lake itself. If you like a good hike, our itinerary around the byways of a small corner of Maremma will definitely stretch your legs. For cricket fans we have the extraordinary tale of a most unlikely team – and they are really rather good! We have e-biking in the majestic Dolomites and we meet a 3-star chef there who’s really making a difference. And for culture vultures, we have the story of the rise, fall and rise again of Venice’s aptly-named La Fenice opera house.

If you’re getting together with friends and family this month, you’ll love our traditional Easter recipes, ‘just like nonna used to make’, as well as some tasty family dishes from Emiko Davies and a quartet of rather indulgent chocolate desserts too. With olive oils, and wines from Umbria, plus expert travel, legal and property advice also in the line-up, I know you will enjoy the issue.
