1The PALIO DELLA RANA (Frog Race) takes place in the town of Fermignano in Le Marche. Contestants representing each of the seven contrade (districts) dress in historical costumes and race with frogs in wheelbarrows – each trying to reach the finish line before the frog hops off. The event also features a costumed procession.

2The world’s largest international wine event takes place in Verona this month as VINITALY comes to the city. This annual show for wine professionals features around 3,000 wines. It includes a competition, new launches and more – and from 5-8 April ‘Vinitaly and the City’ goes beyond the Verona Fiere venue to present wine and food, art, music and entertainment across the wider city.
