NEW FOOD HALLS
Nearly 20 years after the inauguration of the States’ original food hall, Chelsea Market in New York, their popularity continues to grow. Just opened this year is the Pine Street Market in Portland (pictured). The former 1886 United Carriage and Baggage Transfer Building is now home to dessert bars, coffee shops, bakers and restaurants cooking up a range of meals from hot dogs to Israeli street food. Also new is San Diego’s Liberty Public Market, with 27 vendors showcasing the best regional cuisine (libertypublicmarket.com).
