WHILE MOTELS ARE GENERALLY associated with US road trips, visitors to the Cotswolds will get an ample dose of Americana at new opening Mollie’s Motel. The brainchild of Soho House founder Nick Jones, the motel, the first of a group, stays the right side of retro, combining 1950s roadside good looks – like its red neon sign – with Art Deco and modern touches. The on-site diner looks as though it might have been lifed from an Edward Hopper painting, and serves well-made classics, such as burgers, rotisserie chicken and corn on the cob, at its dark teal banquette booths.
