At the turn of the century, vinyl was just about considered a dead format. The focus had begun to shift away from physical media altogether thanks to the advent of downloads and file sharing. This didn’t stop David Bowie from ensuring that album number 22, Heathen, received a vinyl pressing to satisfy7 his die-hard legion of fans and completists. Heathen was released on vinyl by Columbia in both the European and US markets.
These two pressings carry very little difference other than a catalogue number credit on the reverse of the sleeve to state where they were printed. These regularly sell for around £75, but a mint condition sealed copy’ would be closer to £100. Some copies of the US pressing were sent out for promotional purposes, which have been stickered and contain a promotional insert. These are fairly common as promotional items go, but have still commanded a price tag of £150.
