What are your earliest vinyl memories and how important is it as a format to you?
“I’m not that much of a collector, but what I’d say about vinyl is it’s the ultimate way to hear music. There’s something so beautiful and poetic about listening to music on vinyl. I always think about albums as having two sides. There’s a halfway point, whether or not you hear the thing in a full cycle, and that’s been an influence on the making of so many albums. As a format, it just works.”
Your new album is called Cala, the Spanish word for cove. How did you settle on that title?
