When my alarm bleeped, I struggled to find the energy to switch it off – I was awake most nights worrying about work. Each week I drove hundreds of miles and was away from home for several nights. I’d lost count of missed social activities. I was 57, overweight and unfit – too stressed, depressed and busy to make time for regular exercise.
My family and friends watched me sink further into a pit of anxiety and ill health. Finally, I decided to listen to them … I quit my job.
