Let it go
Can you really cast aside judgement? Of judging others;
I won’t be the judge of that!
Could releasing our judgement of others be the answer to a more peaceful, happier life? An increasingly self-aware Ali Roff confronts her issues surrounding blame and criticism
The shame of staying sober
When Clare Poole, author of The Sober Diaries, realised she had a problem with alcohol, she gave it up for her health and happiness. An ugly side effect was the shame and judgement she felt at admitting she had an issue. She began writing an anonymous blog, and found hundreds of thousands of people were living ‘sober in silence’
“We moved on”
Three readers tell us how casting their judgement aside led to closure, forgiveness and progress, even under the most trying of circumstances

Are you asking the right questions?
When Ali Roff realised she was on the wrong path, she decided to get curious about the questions she was asking that led her there. Could it be that in searching for the right answers in life, we need to change the questions we’re asking?

Solo suppers
What does ‘food for one’mean to you? A tasteless microwave meal, flavourless pasta with cheese, baked beans eaten from the tin? The new book Solo Food is leading the food-for-one revolution with easy, inspiring ideas to show there’s no greater act of love than to feed yourself well
TAGLIATELLE WITH PRAWNS & SMOKY WHISKY-TOMATO SAUCE
This is a ‘quick fix’meal, ideal for when you’re tired after a long day at work and all you want to do is get a plate of food in front of you as quickly as you can.
QUINOTTO WITH FENNEL, ALMONDS AND AVOCADO
This ‘quinotto’(a risotto made from quinoa) was one of the first things I cooked for myself after I was on my own; a rather strange combination of ingredients were the few things I happened to have on hand. I like it so much that I now have it fairly often, and every time I do, I hope I’ll find the willpower to stop myself from eating the whole bowl!
LEMON MUG CAKE
Chuck a couple of ingredients into a mug, mix and put it in the microwave. Mug cakes were invented for solo chefs with a sweet tooth. There’s one thing you should know: eat your cake warm, because once it cools, it will have lost all its charm.
