Chris Dunk and Rina Barone
IT WAS 2012 when Toronto couple Rina Barone and Chris Dunk decided to stop spending their weekends in Creemore, Ontario, and spend their weeks there, too. “We left our jobs in Toronto and moved up here to have a new life,” says Barone. The small town – located 100 kilometres north of Toronto with a population of 1,300 – is famous for its craft brewery, but Barone and Dunk found themselves drawn to the local independent bookstore. And so they purchased Curiosity House Books, which had already been saved once from closing by a philanthropic owner who loved the idea of the bookshop’s continuing legacy more than he loved running a bookshop.
