Perfect storm Network Rail apologised for Manchester disruption on 28 October, following four incidents. These involved a vulnerable person near the railway at Crewe, an injury at Mossley, a trespasser at Mills Hill and someone hit by a train at Adlington.
More engineers Network Rail said it is increasing the number of engineering places on its 2016 graduate scheme by 40 per cent. Chief executive Mark Carne welcomed the boost but warned that Network Rail needs a more diverse workforce. (Recruitment, p30-31)
