To win the Paul Veenemans Prize it’s not enough to be a good rower. In one weekend, participants run, speed skate, road cycle and row. They can skip one discipline, but rowing is mandatory. All points are collected, added up and the best overall athlete wins.
The event is named after all-round athlete and Olympic rower Paul Veenemans, who died in a car crash in 1973, aged just 26. Every year a different club organises this friendly clash amongst titans. Rowing club BWV De Eem organized the 2018 ‘PVP’ on the Eem River.
