Dear Readers,
Dreamy is a word that can be used to describe the quintessentially English actor, Benedict Cumberbatch. His pale blue suit and tie worn with
such pure aplomb at the Wimbledon final last weekend surely makes him a front runner for the next Bond? In his new film, out next week, he plays
Thomas Edison, the American inventor desperate to power the world.
His own drive to succeed is more down to earth however. ‘I work to
make my parents proud,’ he tells us exclusively.
Pride in their work is also something hardwired in to all the women who
serve and have served in the army. The Women’s Royal Army Corps (WRAC) celebrates its centenary this year with a remarkable exhibition at the National Army Museum. A chance to see the chassis used by HRH The Princess Elizabeth during her wartime
training as a mechanic with the ATS , along with the first military bra.
Yes, there was such a thing!
Heavy duty jeeps aside, James Crawford–Smith tells us the true
story of a less cumbersome part of HM The Queen’s survival kit,
her trusty brolly. The all-encompassing yet completely see through
object that has seen her through many a British summer function.
We all need one. We also all need to read our exclusive piece by
Theresa Cheung who uses her Dream Card deck to tell us where our
subconscious state is leading us and why. Personally, I feel I am being
led to one of the idyllic British Beaches or Late Breaks in our pick of
the best. We can all dream...
Until 2 August, best wishes

First beginning in February 1885, The Lady’s reputation for setting the benchmark in quality reading has always been at the forefront of importance. With their beautiful head office situated in the renowned Covent Garden, The Lady magazine has always been the quintessential choice of magazine for the elegant lady.

The Lady was initially infamous for its domestic advertisements for a variation of house staff and survived through two World Wars to continue serving ladies alike with cleverly chosen articles. The magazine maintains a focus on cooking, home decor, gardening, health and fashion. With the many changes to editors since the magazine launched, The Lady continues to modernise in content and style, whilst always keeping its original style and quirks.

The Lady is now fast becoming England’s most talked about women’s magazine and continues to provide thousands of readers with the most enthusing articles. Whether you’re looking for a regular update on current affairs, or just tips and advice to keep you at the top of society, The Lady is available to provide it all.

A The Lady digital magazine subscription is a must-have for ‘gentlewomen’ everywhere to enjoy:
