Eddie Jones hailed his “gritty, never say die heroes” after Elliot Daly’s late, late try kept England’s remarkable winning run intact. And then the head coach
ordered his “battered and bruised” players to get ready “to take Italy to the
cleaners” at Twickenham. Jones breathed a hugh sigh of relief having seen his team snatch victory from the jaws of defeat for the second week running. Just as they did against France, they needed to fightback and grab the spoils as time was running out to claim their 16th successive victory.
