Although the vast number of celebrities that are bringing the word Transgender to the forefront, the Trans-community is filled with men and woman who seek to live their lives authentically, happy and without regret. Most stories we hear, are of men who transition into women - but what of those of females who transition into males? These stories are few and far between. Why is that? One reason might be that females who transition to males don’t want to share their journeys, because they want to blend into society. Another might be because no one wants to tell their story - until now.
Prior to 2009, no one had ever heard of Michael Shane Lee Sherman, because back then Michael was known as Michelle Honey Lee-Anne Sherman - a very shy and introverted person - nothing like he is today. Michael has been dubbed ‘Niagara’s Poster Boy’ for the Trans Community by one transgender woman, whilst others have nicknamed him ‘Inspirational Transguy’. But how did Michelle become Michael. Where did this inspirational man come from? The road to finding Michael has been a three-decade search. Prior to him becoming Michael, he identified as a lesbian, where he still struggled with the assigned gender he was born into - that of a female. The mismatch between his outer appearance and the male that he’s always felt himself to be, was apparent to him as a child. He preferred toys and clothing that were normally meant for boys, despite his parents trying hard to turn their tomboy into a feminine girl.
