It is in a former BBC Radio Wales broadcasting station dating from the early 1930’s with several tall aerials still in situ which are visible for miles around - (the heat from these transmitters providing the warmth in the tropical hall!!!)
The last time we visited ‘Tropiquaria’ was some 20 years ago, so had forgotten what it was like. The tourist pamphlet gave us an idea that there would be some exotic animals and reptiles to see, and that there would be a fair bit of visitor interaction.
At the entrance, we were politely and correctly greeted - clearly they were not fazed by a trans woman visiting their attraction. A programme and map were issued. We had just missed the spider talk so went to see some of the outdoor animals. We were met by a wild peacock giving a full display near the children’s play area which featured a Pirate Theme.
