Wilderness Safaris’ Little Kulala is an idyllic base from which to explore Namibia’s red sand sea, Sossusvlei, a vast salt and clay pan surrounded by soaring dunes. Stay in one of 11 climate-controlled, thatched kulalas (meaning ‘sleep’) in the midst of the 67,000-acre Kulala Wilderness Reserve. You may be in the middle of nowhere, but you won’t be bored: you can drive to the dunes at the crack of dawn, go on a desert walk or see the area’s vast beauty from a hot-air balloon at first light. Back at the camp, relax in your own private plunge pool, enjoy great food and sip wine from the fabulous cellar; then sleep on a rooftop bed under the starry Sossusvlei sky.
