WILDERNESS SAFARIS / DANA ALLEN
The Busanga Plains, Kafue National Park, Zambia
“As I grew up in Zambia, the Kafue will always have a special place in my heart. The sense of wilderness here is remarkable: it is wonderfully hard to get to, the vistas are endless, the wildlife unique. In the northern Busanga Plains, the elephant are very wild, the black-maned lion magnificent, and the occasional cheetah so special to see. My memories are of the vast starlight skies, cold mornings and the smell of potato bush, but most of all the vision of countless lechwe appearing from the mist at sunrise. The Busanga is truly untamed and a photographer’s dream.”
