Greetings to you, Ultramarine reader!

Well, I can hardly believe that a year has passed since I took over as Editor. Putting together the last six issues has been a really rewarding experience and it pleases me that some of my most respected acquaintances in the hobby have complimented the content in recent issues. Having said that, I do still think we can move onwards and upwards with the magazine. Particularly, I’m still very keen for hobbyists to approach me for tank features, or maybe even nominate that modest friend! Honestly, there must be some corking tanks out there that are screaming to be shared with other hobbyists… if not just for ‘kudos’, to also help spread new and successful ideas.

In this autumnal issue we cover a range of subjects from livestock husbandry, to species identification, to advanced hobbyist discussion. Of particular note, check out Tristan Lougher’s extended piece on fish aggression which really does contain a wealth of information, tips and tricks to help avoid or address stressful instances of conflict in your reef.
I’ve had my fair share of stress recently as I removed most of the corals from my tank and traded them back to a local store for credit… as a house move is on the cards! Of course I am planning on using the opportunity to upgrade my system but it’s likely to be quite a while before I get my new tank anywhere near up and running. Saying that, I’m already having to ration my Sketch-up fiddling, and concentrate on the real work!

I hope this issue fills you with similar optimism and fires your imagination as the nights draw in.
