The reality of animal homelessness is heartbreaking. At any given time in the UK, there are an estimated 100,000 dogs — and innumerable cats — without homes, food or loving families to care for them. Worse still, in the UK, an average of 18 dogs a day are put to sleep — many healthy, young and well behaved — because there are simply not enough rescue centres, spaces in shelters, funds, or willing homes for them to be adopted into. Likewise, centres are bursting with rescued farm animals, reptiles and small exotics that would be much happier with a stable and loving family.
There are a number of diferent ways that you can help these animals. Whether you’re looking for a new friend to bring home to live with you permanently, you want to help rehabilitate a creature ready for its forever home, or you want to help to provide for a domestic or wild animal in need, there’s an option to suit everyone.
