Every six months or so I check through my files to see if anything can be rewritten, revamped or given another airing. Last week a whole day was designated to searching out these lost masterpieces and sending some off to new markets. Some of my short stories had been returned and missed out on my 24-hour rule: ‘never let a returned MS sit on your desk for longer than a day. Check it, rewrite what’s needed, and send it somewhere else.’ An article was emailed off at 11am and an acceptance arrived at 4pm the same day. I wasn’t expecting that. Why don’t you check through old work and see if it could be submitted somewhere new?
