The Papatango New Writing Prize for theatre writing from new writing company Papatango has increased by £6,000 for the 2016 competition. As well as receiving a four-week run at the Southwark Playhouse, publication by Nick Hern Books and 10% box office royalties, the winner will receive a £6,000 commission to write a follow-up play.
Papatango is particularly interested in plays with a distinctive theatrical language that tackle the contemporary world or the way we live now.
The competition is for original, unperformed, unproduced play scripts, at least eighty minutes in length. All submissions should be docs or pdfs with numbered pages. Scripts must not include your name anywhere on the manuscript, but should have a telephone number on the front page that will be active in May when the results are announced. The closing date is 31 March.
