With a quieter, more tranquil house, when her three children, Ewan, Lindsay and Hope had all left home for university, Gill Hastings decided to demolish the dilapidated lean-to conservatory. It had served them as a family room and been dominated for a long time by teenagers. ‘We wanted to transform it into a permanent living space, to enjoy the garden all year round.
I wanted to be able to use it for Christmas and make it as homely as possible with festive lighting and accessories,’ she explains.
