The ultimate herb garden
Referred to by Jamie Oliver as ‘the queen of herbs’, Jekka McVicar is an expert when it comes to culinary herbs, and often holds masterclasses at her herb farm near Bristol. According to Jekka, five species to look out for in 2016, and likely to be appearing on menus across the UK, are lovage, summer savory, garlic chives, sorrel and rosemary. If you haven’t used some of these, why not try them in your cooking? Summer savory complements beans and can be used in stuffings, while garlic chives work well with Chinese pork dishes, and the white flowers can be added to salads. Jekka’s range of personally-selected herb seeds for Johnsons are perfect for growing in all types of garden, from tiny balconies to larger plots.
